Choosing a plumbing system when chemicals are involved just became a little easier for plumbing engineers and designers. ChemGuide, Charlotte Pipe’s latest mobile app, provides the chemical resistance of ABS, PVC and CPVC thermoplastic piping , along with commonly used seal materials.

ChemGuide users make a few selections, like the material they’re considering and chemicals that will be used in the system. Then they get a “Recommended” or “Not Recommended” response. The app contains chemical resistance recommendations for over 2,300 chemical names or synonyms.

Recommendations are based on laboratory tests conducted by manufacturers of the materials, and the results provide a general guideline on resistance. By using ChemGuide, a thorough evaluation of chemical compositions, and specific application parameters, engineers and designers can make an informed decision for their plumbing system.
